Is Your Soul in the Balance?

The Bible says in 1 John 5:13, These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

These things are written that you may KNOW that you have eternal life. Don't you want to know for sure that when you die, you will go to heaven and not hell? God does not want you to walk around guessing about where you are going to spend eternity. He wants you to know where you are going.

How do you get to heaven? There are so many cults and religions that claim to have the answer, but what does the Bible teach?

We read in the third chapter of the Bible all the way to the end that all men are sinners. The first human beings, Adam and Eve, lived under perfect conditions and daily fellowshipped with God. However, when they were given a choice to listen to God or Satan, they listened to Satan. Adam is a representative of the whole human race, and each of us, just like Adam, have sinned. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. It is because of your sin that you are separated from God. And God cannot simply overlook your sins; because He is holy, righteous and just. You may think that if you are 51% good you will enter heaven, but this is not what the Bible teaches. This is the philosophy of men and of all the false religions of the world. The Bible says that only one sin would separate you from God and cause you to be cast into hell. Notice what James 2:10 says, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. It only takes one sin to come short of God's requirements for righteousness. Just one lie, just one theft, just one lustful thought and you are declared guilty. You may try all of your life to do what is right and to "keep the law," but the Bible says that if you offend in one point, you are guilty. And if you are honest with yourself, you will admit that you have not only sinned once, but multiple times.

The Bible says the purpose for God giving the Old Testament law (i.e. the commandments) is so you might realize you are a sinner; Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin, Romans 3:19-20. In Galatians 3:24 the Bible says, ... the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. God gave the law so you might realize you are a sinner and so you might also realize you cannot meet His requirement for heaven, which is 100% righteousness.

So, what are you to do? If you are a sinner condemned and guilty before God, where can you turn? The Bible answers that question in first Corinthians 15:3-4, For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. This is the gospel, or the good news, Christ died for your sins. He paid your penalty. It was actually you that deserved to be whipped, beaten and hung on a tree, but Jesus Christ took your place; He took your punishment.

You may ask, "Why would God do this for me?" The Scripture says in John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for you because He loves you. I beg you to not reject God's love, but right now, where ever you are, confess yourself a sinner to God and tell him that you believe Jesus died for you and your sins. God holds out His hands and offers you eternal life. Won't you accept His free gift? John 1:12 says, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

You will never be 100% sure of heaven until you cease trusting in your own righteousness and trust in Jesus Christ to take you to heaven. Romans 10:9-10 says, ...if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Take God at His word today; Call on Jesus to save you. And once you are saved, pray, read your Bible and join a bible believing church.
